In this case, a refund is possible, or you can transfer your entry to a friend. Please check details on the Refund page. Sunday May 13th is also Mothers Day……..all mothers are especially welcome - on a bike, as a helper or as a spectator. We will have special give away prizes just for mothers!. (And you can all thank us for giving you two months extra training time….for all those riders who asked for downgrading of categories because they had “not trained enough” – this is not longer an excuse!) Looking forward to seeing everyone on May 13th.
Thursday evening 8th March
After inspecting the site at Wingello this afternoon, (in the rain), unfortunately we have made the hard decision to postpone the race for now. As you can appreciate, the roads leading in and out of Wingello State Forests are very soggy, and we are not confident that they will dry out enough in time for race day, Sunday. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes anyone. As soon as we decide on a new date, we will post this on this website, and sent an email out to all registered riders telling them of the new date. Once the new date has been released, we will give full details of transfer and refund policies for this new date.
I know a lot of you are concerned about the weather. The forecast for our area is still looking pretty promising for this coming weekend. The tracks at Wingello hold up well in rain – our main concern is getting all the cars in and out of the forestry roads. However, race organisers are meeting with Forestry Thursday afternoon, and we will make our decision regarding the Race on Thursday evening. Whatever the outcome, everyone will be informed first thing Friday by email. and via this website.
Entries for the 2012 James Williamson Enduro Challenge are now closed. We have reached the 600 limit.
All riders who have entered the race still need to Register at the Event Centre before the race, either on Saturday on Sunday. See details on the “Checking in on the Day” page.
The long range forecast for the Southern Tablelands looks good.(http://www.weatherchannel.com.au/WeatherMap#NSW/Sth-Tablelands/GOULBURN) Showers all week, but fine on Race weekend 10 & 11th March.
At this stage, we are planning that the Race will go ahead. In the event that the weather turns and the RACE has to be cancelled, all registered riders will be communicated with at the latest by noon Saturday 9th March (and earlier wherever possible) in the following ways:
By email
At www.jameswilliamson.com.au/enduro
At the Southern Highlands Cycling Club website: www.southernhighlandscc.com.au
At the CORC website: http//new.corc.asn.au/index.asp?IntCatId=14

Meet at the Forest Camp:

• Sunday March 4th 9am – race with the SHCC club on some of the Willo Trail. Meet at the quarry
Riding at Wingello while areas are being logged
Forest NSW is logging some of the areas adjacent to the Red Trail so these areas are closed. Forest NSW is allowing the James Williamson Enduro Challenge to ride these areas on the weekend of the race. However, a small section of the fire roads (including the KOM) are not accessible till race weekend).
You can still ride most of the trail. We rode it two days ago – see attached a map showing where you can ride to avoid the closed areas.

There are two options
1. Follow fire roads along Gulp Rd to the start of the Great Wall Single Track, and from this point, the track is all open
2. This is the second option (and what we did 2 days ago). From the Forest Camp, we rode the normal Red Trail route, turning left into the new single track running adjacent to Wildfire Gulley. At the end of the Single track, we joined the fire road, climbed up that climb (all normal Red Trail) but at the top, turn right and follow the fire road east and then south east to join up with Gulp Rd. there are signs along here showing you the way, indicating the Red Trail. Once onto Gulp Rd, you just follow the signs until you join up with the Great Wall single track.
